SUNY Geneseo President to co-chair regional economic council

The Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council has named a new co-chair to replace former Monroe Community College President Anne Kress, who left for a position in Virginia earlier this year.

Denise Battles, president of SUNY Geneseo, will serve as co-chair, joining Bob Duffy, who is president and CEO of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce.  The council works to grow the economy in a nine-county area in the Rochester-Finger Lakes region.

Battles said that, “It is humbling to follow Anne Kress’ exemplary record of leadership and join Bob Duffy in the role of Co-Chair. I look forward to partnering with Bob, whose contributions to our state are unparalleled, as well as other FLREDC team members, to grow the capacity of our region and beyond.”

Kress served in the role as co-chair  from 2016 to 2019. She became president of Northern Virginia Community College in January.
