This was to have been the 28th year that Fox Run Vineyards hosted its Glorious Garlic Festival. But, out of an abundance of caution and with the safety of their customers, vendors, and employees their top priority, the event has been cancelled for 2020 along with the annual Town Pants concert. Scott Osborn is president and co-owner of Fox Run Vineyards. He said they made the decision sooner rather than later so that none of the 13 to 14 thousand people who attend make plans that they have to cancel at the last minute. And, Osborn wanted to give the vendors plenty of notice.

"All of them expressed disappointment, but they also, in the same sentence, say this was the right thing to do. You know, I think most of us who deal was with large crowds realize that there's a lot of uncertainty. If things get better, then that's very good. But if things happened to all of a sudden Spike, as we opened up our economy in upstate New York and then things get closed down, all of a sudden, it would be disappointing for everybody who made plans."

Just as with Nancy Irelan last week, I asked Osborn how life around Fox Run is during the pandemic.

"Different! You know, the vineyard work goes on, the winemaking is continuing. Obviously the tasting rooms have been closed down, so we don't get to see our loyal customers as much as we'd like to, but those those people out there have been incredibly supportive."

And Osborn hopes that those same people can be supportive of the Glorious Garlic Festival vendors.

"You know, these vendors that have been part of the garlic festival for, many of them, for 28 years. They're sort of in the same boat that we are and they're not going to be able to be doing their festivals. If you go on our Web page, you'll be able to find all the different vendors. We hope that you'll support them like you've been supporting us."

That list of vendors is on the Fox Run Vineyards website.
